5. Committee Activity Reports
a. Promotion- Emily Temple gave a rundown on the downtown events committee meeting. Downtown
Mini Golf, and Hatch Chile, and Movies in the Park with an Elvis theme
b. Organization -Tanner Dobrovolsky said he would be available to help with volunteers for the events.
c. Economic Vitality — Cheri Bedford shared the Distrx app continues to have businesses get updated
information. A small flyer with Distrx info was distributed to the participants of the Tour de Paris. Will
Walker has been working on a downtown maintenance guide for property owners. Mr Walker is also
finalizing the Distrx walking tour information.
d. Design Glee Emmite gave a report on the design committee workings and the planters that will be
rearranged and replanted. She also gave an update that some mural histories are being researched, with the
Henry P. Mayer facing the Grand Avenue next to 107 is scheduled for a rehab in mid-September.
6. Coordinators Report -
Councilman Pankaj introduced himself and expressed his appreciation to the board.
Cheri reviewed the Texas Downtown Association President's awards page and asked the board members
to look over the categories and determine if Paris could nominate some project or rehabilitation.
The City has been in discussion with a local music promoter on a potential event for downtown, a music
series. Follow up on this idea will be coming as details will be fleshed out. There is potential for
fundraising for the PDA that will be looked into.
Andrew Mack, City Planner presented the idea about a sculpture walk in downtown. He has had a very
successful program in another city and thinks it would be a good fit for Paris. The start of the program
would need to be funded by grants and the staff has reviewed the criteria from Texas Cormnission of the
Arts for the designation of a Cultural District in Paris. This will be researched further. The Advisory
Board gave their full support and offered to help in any way possible.
