1987-085-RES WHEREAS, the late Welma Morphew Aikin, a distinguished citizen of Paris, Lamar County and the State RESOLUTION NO. 87-085 WHEREAS, the late Welma Morphew Aikin, a distinguished citizen of Paris, Lamar County and the State of Texas; and, WHEREAS, her interest in and contributions to conserva- tion and beautification is well documented; and, WHEREAS, the Paris Council of Garden Clubs is desirous of honoring Welma Morphew Aikin by establishing a perpetual flowering design which will include 3 to 4 seasonal plantings annually in a planting area approximately 10 square feet near the Southern boundary of Bywaters Park with a plaque in the center stating facts concerning Welma Morphew Aikin; and, WHEREAS, Paris Council of Garden Clubs is desirous of dedicating said perpetual flowering design at 2:00 O'clock P. M. on October 2, 1987, the same being Welma Morphew Aikin's Birthday; and, WHEREAS, it would be fitting and proper that October 2, 1987, be designated Welma Morphew Aikin Day in the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, That the Paris Council of Garden Clubs is granted permission to dedicate a perpetual flowering design honoring Welma Morphew Aikin near the Southern boundary of Bywaters Park to be perpetually maintained by the Paris Council of Garden Clubs; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That October 2, 1987, is designated Welma Morphew Aikin Day in the City of Paris.
