1986-119-RES WHEREAS, the United Stated Congress has passed the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 RESOLUTION NO. 86-119 WHEREAS, the United Stated Congress has passed the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act of 1965 (Public Law 88-578), authorizing the Secretary of the Interior to provide finan- cial assistance to states, and political subdivisions thereof, for outdoor recreation purposes; and, WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature has adopted Chapter 13 of the Parks and Wildlife Code for the purpose of allowing the State of Texas, and its political subdivisions, to participate in the Federal program established under said Public Law 88-578, or such other programs as are hereinafter established by the Federal Government; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris is eligible to make applica- tion for funds from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the purpose of constructing a picnic shelter, a multi- purpose court, a playground area and a paved parking area in Culbertson Park in the 1300 block of East Hearon Street, Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris deems it to be in the best interest of the citizens of Paris to seek such assistance; and, WHEREAS, an application for such grant assistance in the amount of $32,579.00 being a 50% grant, should be made; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, AS FOLLOWS: 1. That the City Council of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, hereby certifies that the City of Paris is eligible to receive assistance under Public Law 88-578, as augmented by Chapter 13 of the Parks and Wildlife Code. 2. That an application be made to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for a grant in the amount of $32,579.00, being a 50% grant, for constructing a picnic shelter, a multi- purpose court, a playground area, and a paved parking area in Culbertson Park, a public outdoor recreation area located in the 1300 block of East Hearon Street. 3. That, Michael E. Malone, City Manager, be, and he ~s hereby designated Certifying Representative and is hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver on behalf of the City of Paris the application to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for said improvements to Culbertson Park. 4. That W. and he City's E. Anderson, Director of Finance, be, is hereby authorized to serve as the fiscal officer to receive Federal Passed and adopted this 4th day of December, 1986.
