1985-027-RES WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris does acknowledge the request of Cedric Townsend, Judge RESOLUTION NO. 85-027 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris does acknowledge the request of Cedric Townsend, Judge of the Municipal Court of the City of Paris, to be relieved of full time responsibility as Judge of said Municipal Court effective May 1, 1985; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Paris that Cedric Townsend be retained in an inactive status maintaining his qualifications, in order that he may serve in the absence of or disability of the regularly appointed Municipal Judge; and, WHEREAS, Thomas E. Hunt, III, is qualified appointed Municipal Judge of the City of Paris and he be appointed effective May 1, 1985; and, WHEREAS, the City Attorney, T. K. Haynes, was heretofore authorized to negotiate a professional service contract with Cedric Townsend and Thomas E. Hunt, III; NOW THEREFORE, to be should BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, That Cedric Townsend, be, and he is hereby appointed inactive Municipal Judge effective May 1, 1985; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That Thomas E. Hunt, III, be, and he is hereby appointed Municipal Judge of the City of Paris, effective May 1, 1985; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mayor of the City of Paris, Joe Graham, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris, the Professional Services Contract for Municipal Judge of the City of Paris, upon the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A attached hereto, with Thomas E. Hunt, III; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the Mayor of the City of Paris, Joe Graham, be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to execute on behalf of the City of Paris, the Professional Services Contract for Inactive Municipal Judge of the City of Paris, upon the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A attached hereto, with Cedric Townsend. Hunt, III, an 3lconwy licensed to practice law by the Stace Bar of Texas, a cicizen of the City of Paris, Lamar County, Texas, hereinafter called HUNT, wherein the parties contract and agree as follows: 1. That HUNT agrees to serve as Nunicipal Judge as needed between April 1, 1985, and May 1, 1985, and from Hay 1, 1985, regularly chrough September 30, 1985, said service as Municipal Judge to be in accordance with che Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas. 2. Thac CITY agrees co pay HUNT as compensation for his service as Municipal Judge at the rate of $37.50 per hour with CJ minimum monthly compensaci.on of $600.00 and (,lith a maximum compensation of $6,000.00 for the six (6) monch cerm of this contract. 3. That HUNT agrees to satisfy th," requirement for continuing education required in Article 1200f of Vernon's Annotated Texas Statutes and CITY agrees to pay expenses connected ,lith such requirements.
