SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT TO THE PARIS HOUSING AUTHORITY
DATE: July 11, 2022
BACKGROUND: At the City Council meeting of June 27, 2022, there were not a sufficient
number of applicants to complete the Housing Authority appointments.
STATUS OF ISSUE: Pursuant to State Law, the Mayor makes appointments to the Housing
Authority. On June 27, 2022, Mayor Portugal re -appointed Jenny Wilson and T.K. Hayes and
appointed Beverly Johnson to the Housing Authority, leaving one vacant position.
Mayor Portugal requested staff to re -advertise in an effort to recruit a sufficient number of
applicants to fill this board.
Staff re -advertised and received an application from Dewayne Dangerfield, who previously
served on the Paris Housing Authority. City Clerk Janice Ellis informed Mayor Portugal that
Mr. Dangerfield wished to serve again and had submitted his application. Mayor Portugal
appointed Mr. Dangerfield to serve on the Paris Housing Authority.
BUDGET: N/A
RECOMMENDATION: Pursuant to State Law, acknowledge Mayor Portugal's appointment of
Dewayne Dangerfield to serve in the vacant position on the Paris Housing Authority.
