MINUTES OF THE PARIS ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
SPECIAL MEETING
May 31, 2000
The Paris Economic Development Corporation met in a special meeting on
Wednesday, May 31, 2000, at 4:00 P.M., in the City Council Chambers, City Hall,
Paris, Texas. President Mike Rhodes called the meeting to order with the
following boardmembers present: Dick Amis, Don Wall, and Jay Guest. Also
present were ex-officio boardmembers Chamber Chairman Paul Swasko, City
Manager Michael E. Malone, City Attorney Larry Schenk, and Executive Director
Gary Vest.
President Rhodes stated that the first item on the agenda was a closed session in
accordance with Section 551.086 of the Open Meetings Act to discuss pending
negotiations and commercial or financial information from business prospects
regarding incentives for industrial prospect, teleservices company.
The Paris Economic Development Corporation went into executive session at
4:05 P.M.
President Rhodes reconvened the Board into open session at 4:50 P.M.
Mayor Michael Pfiester entered the meeting at this time.
President Rhodes stated that the next item was consideration of an incentive
agreement with a teleservices company. Mr. Rhodes stated that after discussion
in closed session he would entertain a motion to authorize Mr. Vest to negotiate
an incentive agreement with a teleservices company to be named at a later date.
Boardmember Jay Guest made a motion, seconded by Boardmember Dick Amis,
to authorize Mr. Vest to negotiate an incentive agreement with a teleservices
company to be named at a later date. The motion carried unanimously.
President Rhodes asked if there was any other business and there being none he
declared the board meeting adjourned.
