Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Paris shall meet in special session
at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2, 2024. The meeting will be held at the City Council Chamber,
107 E. Kaufman Street, in Paris, Texas. One or all Council Members may be attending
remotely, but the feed will be available for live viewing at https://paristexas.gov/public. The
matters to be discussed and acted upon are as follows:
1. Call meeting to order.
2. Citizens' forum.
(Persons desiring to address the Council must limit their presentation to no more than two minutes. Unless
an item is posted on the Agenda, the Texas Open Meetings Act prohibits the Council from responding to any
comments other than to refer the matter to a future agenda, to an existing policy, or to a staff person with
specific factual information. Claims against the City, Council Members, or employees, as well as individual
personal appeals are not appropriate for citizens' forum.)
If necessary, the City Council may convene into Executive Session under Chapter 551 of the Texas
Government Code regarding any item on this agenda.
3. Convene into Executive Session pursuant to Section 551.074 of the Texas Government
Code, (1) to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties,
discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employees, as follows: to deliberate the
appointment of a public officer to fill the vacancy in City Council District 2 until the next
regular election in May 2026.
4. Reconvene into Open Session and possibly take action on those matters discussed in
Executive Session.
5. Deliberate and act on a Resolution appointing a qualified person to fill the vacancy in City
Council District 2 and to serve as City Council Member for District 2 until the next regular
election in May 2026.
6. Administer Oath of Office to newly appointed City Council Member for District 2.
7. Convene into Executive Session pursuant to Section 551.074 of the Texas Government
Code, (1) to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, reassignment, duties,
discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employees, as follows: Interim City Manager.
8. Reconvene into Open Session and possibly take action on those matters discussed in
Executive Session.
9. Discuss and provide direction to staff regarding selection process for the position of City
Manager, including but not limited to retaining an executive search firm.
10. Adjournment.
