1997-140 - Recertification of Main Street Program RESOLUTION NO. 97-140
WHEREAS, the Texas Main Street Program of the Texas Historical Commission has been
created to assist cities to develop a public and private effort to revitalize their "Main Street" areas;
and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris that
the City of Paris make application for recertification under the 1998 "Main Street" Program as
a graduate city with the specific goal of revitalizing the central business district within the context
of the preservation and rehabilitation of its historical buildings; and,
WHEREAS, the form of the 1998 Application for Recertification, attached hereto as
exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the Mayor of the City of Paris, Eric S. Clifford,
should be authorized to execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the
City of Paris apply for recertification in the 1998 "Main Street" Program as a graduate city with
the specific goal of revitalizing the central business district within the context of the preservation
and rehabilitation of its historical buildings; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the form of the 1998 Application for Recertification,
attached hereto as Exhibit A, be, and the same is hereby, approved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor of the City of Paris, Eric S. Clifford, be,
and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the 1998
Application for Recertification under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit
A, attached hereto; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the full-time position of a Main Street Program
• Manager be, and the same is hereby, established, with travel funds being made available by the
City of Paris for the training of said Manager; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager be, and he is hereby, designated
to coordinate the program activities.
