RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
TEXAS, TO NAME THE CITY OF PARIS SPORTS COMPLEX
PICKLEBALL COURTS IN HONOR OF CITIZEN SUE HAYS; MAKING
OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT;
AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the sport of pickleball is surging in popularity across the nation
and in Paris, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the City has lacked a sufficient number of pickleball courts to
satisfy demand; and
WHEREAS, a group of pickleball enthusiasts spearheaded by Sue Hays and
others incorporated under the name Paris Texas Pickleball ("PTP") as a non-profit
corporation dedicated to furthering the sport in Paris and to raising funds to
construct new courts; and
WHEREAS, due largely to the efforts Mrs. Hays, the City and PTP agreed on
May 13, 2024 for the City to construct eight pickleball courts and related amenities
on undeveloped property at the City's Sports Complex wherein PTP would cover the
cost of said courts and associated fixtures and improvements; and
WHEREAS, said pickleball courts have now been completed and opened for
public use; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Hays has volunteered untold hours to shepherding through
the pickleball courts project and has been a tireless advocate and ambassador for the
sport within the community; and
WHEREAS, the City Council, having considered the contributions and
accomplishments of Mrs. Sue Hays to promoting pickleball and its associated health
benefits, and in being the driving force behind the construction of the new courts,
finds and determines that naming said courts the "Sue Hays Pickleball Complex" is an
appropriate way to acknowledge and recognize said contributions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are
hereby in all things approved and are incorporated herein for all purposes.

City Manager to implement any and all necessary measures to formally name the Sue
Hays Pickleball Complex.
