1998-037-RES WHEREAS, CITY COUNCIL DID HERETOFORE ON THE 23RD DAY
RESOLUTION NO. 98-037
WHEREAS, the City council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 23rd day of
November, 1996, in Resolution No. 96-029, authorize three applications to be made to the Texas
Department of Housing and Community Affairs for the Community Development Fund Grant
under the Young v. Cisneros Texas Community Development Program (TCDP) for three projects,
two of which are:
(1) Curb and gutter, street paving, and drainage on 6th Street N.E. from Garrett Street
to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive, and
(2) Clearing and grubbing, rough grading, and appurtenant drainage work to ready
project site for street construction on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive extension from 6th
Street N.E. to North Main Street.; and,
WHEREAS, the grant was awarded on the 24th day of September, 1996, by the execution
of TCDP Young vs. Cisneros Contract, No. 715246; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore authorize the preparation
of plans and specifications for the two street and drainage improvement projects; and,
WHEREAS, such plans and specifications have been prepared by Earl Smith, City
Engineer, with the title being given thereto of the "Street and Drainage Improvements, 6th
Street N.E. from E. Garrett Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Clearing,
Grubbing, and Grading of Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive from 6th Street N.E. to North
Main Street, TCDP Young v, Cisneros Contract, No. 715246" Project, which plans and
specifications are recommended for approval by the City Engineer of the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that such plans and specifications be approved and
that such project be authorized for advertisement for bids; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the
plans and specifications for the "Street and Drainage Improvements, 6th Street N .E. from E.
Garrett Street to Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive and Clearing, Grubbing, and Grading of
Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive from 6th Street N.E. to North Main Street, TCDP Young v,
Cisneros Contract, No. 715246" Project be, and the same are hereby, approved; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that such street and drainage improvement project be
advertised for bids to be received after due notice at the office of the City Manager of the City of
Paris, City Hall, 135 1st Street S.E., Paris, Texas 75460, until 3:00 o'clock p.m. on Tuesday,
March 31, 1998, at which time said bids will be opened in the City Council Chamber, City Hall,
135 1st Street S.E., Paris, Lamar County, Texas, and bids will be tabulated and presented to the
City Council on the 13th day of April, 1998, for the purpose of letting such bid.
