1990-041-RES WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified of District 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris on the RESOLUTION NO. 90- Q41 WHEREAS, an election was held by the qualified voters of District 1, 2, 3 and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, on the 5th day of May, 1990, for the purpose of voting for and electing the Councilmen from each of said District to serve as members of the City Council for the ensuing two (2) years, to-wit: 1. Councilman From District One (1) 2. Councilman From District Two (2) 3. Councilman From District Three (3) 4. Councilman From District Six (6) WHEREAS, as required by Order of the District Court of the Un i ted S ta tes for the Eas tern Di s tr ic t of Texas, Par is Division, in Civil Action No. P-75-3-CA, and as provided in the Charter of the City of Paris and the laws of the State of Texas where in they do not conf 1 ic t wi th sa id Order, such election was conducted and held at four (4) specified and designated polling places, that is one polling place in District 1, 2, 3, and 6 of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas; and, WHEREAS, sealed returns of said election, made by the duly appointed and designated election officials of and for the four (4) respective voting boxes, have been made to the Mayor and City Council of the City of Paris, as required by law, which returns after due and deliberate review and canvass thereof, show the following results of said election, to-wit: (1) IN DISTRICT ONE (1) A TOTAL OF 22 VOTES WERE CAST FOR COUNCILMAN FROM DISTRICT ONE (1) AS FOLLOWS: District Absentee Total George Fisher Write-In Candidate 20 o 2 o 22 o (2) IN DISTRICT TWO (2) A TOTAL OF 20 VOTES WERE CAST FOR COUNCILMAN FROM DISTRICT TWO (2) AS FOLLOWS: District Absentee Total Walter F. Williams Emma Smith Write-In Candidate 4 16 o o 4 16 o (3) IN DISTRICT THREE (3) A TOTAL OF 29 VOTES WERE CAST FOR COUNCILMAN FROM DISTRICT THREE (3) AS FOLLOWS: District Absentee Total Billy Joe Burnett Write-In Candidate 29 o o 29 o NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that from the above and foregoing canvass of the returns of the votes in the four (4) respective voting boxes in such election, it is declared and determined that George Fisher is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From District One (1), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From District One (1) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; that Emma Smith is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilwoman From District Two (2), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From District Two (2) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; tha t Billy Joe Burnet tis the per son rece i v ing the h ighes t number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From District Three (3), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From District Three (3) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years; and that E. W. (Bill) Booth is the person receiving the highest number of votes of the votes cast at such election for Councilman From District Six (6), and is therefore elected to serve as Councilman From District Six (6) and as a member of the City Council of the City of Paris for the ensuing two (2) years. Passed and adopted by the City Council of the City of Paris in regular session convened pursuant to the directions of the Election Code of the State of Texas, on this the 10th day of May, 1990.
