1990-036-RES WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City plans to make an application for 1990 funds Comprehensive RESOLUTION NO. 90-036 WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Paris plans to make an application for 1990 funds for the Comprehensive Improvement Assistance Program in order to make physical improvements to meet the compliance regu- lations with the Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and, WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Paris has requested the Mayor to sign a letter pledging the continued extension of public services and facilities to the housing authority as is furnished the community at large and waiver of remodeling permit fees under the Building Code; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, deems it to be in the best interest to the City of Paris that the Hous ing Au thor i ty make app1 ica t ion for 1990 funds for the Comprehensive Improvement Assistance Program; and, WHEREAS, it would be appropriate for the mayor to transmit a letter in the form of Exhibit A attached hereto to the Housing Authority of the City of Paris; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS that the letter pledging the continued extension of public services and facilities to the housing authority, in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A, is approved. Box 688 Paris, Texas 75461 Dear Ms. McDowell: In answer to your inquiry as to what services the City of Paris will provide to the Housing Authority of the City of Paris, I wish to assure all interested persons that the City of Paris continues to be committed to provide services in accordance with paragraph five of the Cooperative Agreement between the Housing Authority of the City of Paris, Texas, and the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, dated March 7, 1950, which in general terms is the same type, level and at the same cost that public services and facilities are provided the community-at-large. In addition to this and during your pursuit of modernization of your projects, pursuant to your request, the City Council has unanimously approved waiver of permit fees normally charged for remodeling work of this type; however, permits must be secured through the City as usual and inspections made. It is the desire and intent of the City Council to ensure that the Housing Authority of the City of Paris provide intergrated housing facilities with the appropriate racial mix for low income and elderly citizens of our community and to ensure that such facilities meet all other Federal Requirements for Public Housing including Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
