1998-137-RES WHEREAS, THE 19680 MACK PUMPER NO CF611F-1064 HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SERVICE RESOLUTION NO.98-137 WHEREAS, the 1968 Mack Pumper No. CF611F-1064 has been removed from service and is no longer being used by the City of Paris Fire Department; and, WHEREAS, said pumper can no longer meet the State of Texas requirements for a front- line engine and, therefore, does not assist the City of Paris in meeting its requirements in order to maintain an advantageous fire rating; and, WHEREAS, said pumper still has value as a piece of fire fighting equipment, but should be declared to be surplus property to the City of Paris and disposed of in accordance with state law; and, WHEREAS, Texas A&M University at Commerce, Texas, is establishing a fire academy and fire degree program, and they are desirous of purchasing said pumper for use in providing various training benefitting Paris and other cities across Northeast Texas, said purchase being for $1.00 and the further consideration of allowing ten (10) Paris recruits to attend basic training at one-half (1/2) the regular price; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Paris that said pumper be declared surplus and sold to Texas A&M University; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the 1968 Mack Pumper No. CF611F-1064, be, and the same is hereby, declared to be surplus property; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the sale of said Pumper to Texas A&M University for $1.00 and the further consideration of allowing ten (10) Paris recruits to attend basic training at one-half (1/2) the regular price, be, and the same is hereby, approved.
