AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS; ESTABLISHING A MAXIMUM, REASONABLE, AND PRUDENT RATE OF SPEED IN THE AREA OF PUBLIC SCHOOLS ON CERTAIN PORTIONS OF CERTAIN STREETS AND HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC PLACES IN THE CITY OF PARIS; PROVIDING FOR A FINE NOT TO EXCEED $200.00; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF APRIL 1, 2006. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the following maximum, reasonable, and prudent rate of speed be, and the same is hereby, established in the area of public schools on those portions of the street hereinafter described: AIKEN ELEMENTARY SCHOOL: On Aikin Drive, from the east curb line of the intersection ofNE 30th Street and Aikin Drive to the west boundary of property owned by the Paris Independent School District, a speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour; and, 7:15 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. Section 2. That any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty of a Misdemeanor, and, upon conviction, shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $200.00. Section 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly repealed. Section 4. That this ordinance shall become effective on April 1 , 2006.
