MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE
MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD
October 19, 2005
Aikin Building

3:00 p.m.
A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Adv.
Board was held Wed. Oct.19, 2005 at 3 p.m., in the
Aikin Building. Beth Golden, Main Street Coordinator,
presided.
PRESENT: Barbara Wilson, Walt Brown (Alt.), Suzy
Harper, Jennifer Long
ABSENT: Bailey Gant (Alt.), Renee Harvey (Alt.), Drew Crawford, David
House, Linda Knox, Pike Burkhart, Zach Saffle
Beth Golden called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.
September 19, 2005 minutes were reviewed by board
members and a motion was made by Barbara Wilson to
approve the minutes as prepared. Suzy Harper seconded
and minutes were unanimously approved.
Committee Reports
) Organization Committee - Beth Golden reported
that a meeting was held October 3rd with TXDOT
officials to discuss possible new courtesy
signage to be placed at the entry ways to Paris.
In the discussion it was also decided to clean up
the sign pollution between the city limits signs
and the loop. The group would like to see the
sign inventory and clean up of unnecessary
signage spread even further into the city.
Several key members were at the meeting including
the city manager, chamber of commerce and main
street advisory board members. Before adjourning
the group also agreed that gateway signage would

be a good project. A follow up meeting 1S
scheduled for November 21 at 10: 00 am.
>> Promotions Committee - Beth Golden reported that
her committee had not met but would like to
schedule a meeting in November or December.
>> Design Committee - No Report.
>> Economic Restructuring Committee - No Report.
Christmas Decorations - Swallow tales were requested
for the existing Christmas banners and some
suggestions were made regarding red and white ribbon
to wrap the tree trunks. A Christmas event was
discussed by the downtown merchants for November 25th
from Spm to 7pm on the plaza. They are interested in
having carollers sing, serving cocoa and having the
merchants stay open a few extra hours that evening.
Festival of Pumpkins - An update on the festival was
given. Beth Golden reported that everything was
falling into place. Funding was good, volunteers were
signed up and vendors were double what were booked
last year.
Jennifer Long made a motion to adjourn at
and Walt Brown seconded that motion.
