04-D Airport Adv Bd Min 03-02-06 MINUTES REGULAR MEETING AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD COX FIELD AIRPORT TERMINAL MEETING ROOM PARIS. TEXAS THURSDAY. MARCH 2. 2006 5:30 O'CLOCK P.M. 1. The Airport Advisory Board meeting was called to order by Chairman Vic Ressler, Jr. at 5:30 p.m. A. The following members were present: Glen Chapman Jack Ashmore Bill Boothe Don Morrell Andrew Fasken B. The following members were absent: Harry Michaelwicz C. Also present was Lisa Wright, Airport Director; and Jerry Richey, Airport Manager. 2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. No changes were made to the minutes of January 19, 2006, and they were approved as submitted. Andy Fasken arrived at the meeting. 3. Receipt of report from the fly-in subcommittee and possible direction regarding April 1 Fly-In. Lisa Wright reported that the Chamber of Commerce awarded $2,000 for the fly-in. The budget was about $3,550, so she asked if the board would consider eliminating the food vouchers for the pilots and instead giving Chamber gift baskets. All were in favor of giving up the pilot voucher. The vendors lined up thus far are the local corn dog vendor, Scholl's Bar-B-Q, and possibly the hot dog cart downtown. If it looks like there will be a ton of people and pretty weather, a couple more people might be invited. It has been difficult reaching some ofthe vendors because it is festival season; however, there will be at least 5 to 10 vendors. The RCs are possibly going to put on . .. f March 2, 2006 Page 2 at least 2 demonstrations. They need an 80' buffer between the crowd and where the flight line is. Also going north and south from the west edge of the taxiway, they need almost unlimited space. For their insurance purposes, the are not permitted to be in the air on an airport while planes can fly in. There could be a 30 minute NOTAM where they can't come in-that would be okay. There will also be a trick kite demonstration. There will be someone from Dallas coming in with a gigantic kite for display. Sally Wright, the Parks Director, will host a best homemade kite contest for kids and give out prizes. Lisa Wright said that tables and chairs for seating can be rented. Someone pointed out that Eric Clifford has lots of long tables we could borrow. Table and chairs can be put inside and outside of the hangars. Lisa Wright asked about selling a chance for one free flight, for $2 or $5, and using that money as a fund-raiser for the airport. Everybody will be have an equal shot at a free flight. They can take it that day or another day. The Board recommended giving away 5 flights. At least 25 volunteers are needed along with hand-held radios, tables and chairs (Jerry will check with Eric Clifford), orange tape, Police, Fire, EMS; also orange vests, trash cans and bags, a trash truck parked out there, people to set up tables, bathroom facilities x 4, and an emcee.
