<br />RESOLUTION NO. 98-117
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 5th day of
<br />February, 1998, in Resolution No. 98-016, authorize an application to be made to the Office of
<br />the Governor of the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council of
<br />Governments, for a grant under the Federal Safe and Drug-Free School Act; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor of the State of Texas, Criminal Justice Division,
<br />has issued its Grant Award, entitled "Police Athletic League Grant, No. ED-98-JOI-12756," for
<br />the period beginning September 1, 1998, and ending August 31, 1999,; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, acceptance of the same must occur within forty-five (45) days of the date of
<br />said award, which occurred on July 31, 1998; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City
<br />of Paris accept said Grant A ward and continue to fund a full-time police officer as a coordinator
<br />for the Police Athletic League in the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE,
<br />
<br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY O~' PARIS, that the
<br />Safe/Drug Free Schools & Communities Act Grant, entitled "Police Athletic League Grant, No.
<br />ED-98-JOI-12756," for the period beginning September 1, 1998, and ending August 31, 1999,
<br />in the total amount of $23,711.00, requiring a matching contribution of $31,769.00, be, and the
<br />same is hereby, accepted; and,
<br />
<br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Manager of the City of Paris, Michael E.
<br />Malone, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris,
<br />the Grant Acceptance Notice under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A,
<br />attached hereto.
