1998-103-RES WHEREAS, CITY COUNCIL, IN AN EFFORT TO REGULATE
RESOLUTION NO. 98-103
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris, in an effort to regulate sexually
oriented business did heretofore appoint a committee to research and recommend the feasibility
of an ordinance regulating the same; and,
WHEREAS, the Texas Legislature has made findings regarding sexually oriented
businesses in the Texas Local Government Code, ~ 243.001 et seq.; and,
WHEREAS, the aforementioned committee reviewed an Overview of Studies on Sexually
Oriented Businesses and recommends the adoption of the findings thereto; and,
WHEREAS, the Overview of Studies on Sexually Oriented Businesses have been reviewed
by the City Council of the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interest of the citizens of the City of Paris that
said Overview of Studies be adopted in consideration of tl1e preparation of an ordinance to regulate
sexually oriented businesses in the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, said studies shall not be considered controlling, but as a reference to guide
the Council in preparation of an ordinance to regulate sexually oriented businesses; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the
Overview of Studies on Sexually Oriented Businesses, reviewed by the Committee To Review
Ordinance To Regulate Sexually Oriented Businesses, be, and the same is hereby, adopted as a
reference to guide the City Council in preparation of an ordinance to regulate sexually oriented
businesses in the City of Paris.
