1998-097-RES WHEREAS, UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE,
RESOLUTION NO.98-097
WHEREAS, tl1e United States Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance, Local
Law Enforcement Block Grants Program, provides funding for local law enforcement grants; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is desirous of processing a grant
application for an AS400 Computer, radar equipment, and overtime for the Police Department,
at a total cost of $161,209.00, with $145,088.00 to be provided by grant and $16,121.00 to be
provided by the City of Paris in the form of local funds; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS:
1. That an application be made to the United States Department of Justice, Bureau of
Justice Assistance, for a Local Law Enforcement Block Grants Program grant in the amount of
$145,088.00, being approximately 90% of the estimated cost of the AS400 Computer, radar
equipment, and overtime for the Police Department, with the City of Paris providing $16,121.00
in the form of local funds.
2. That Michael E. Malone, City Manager of the City of Paris, be, and he is hereby,
appointed as the Auiliorized Official of said project and is authorized and directed to execute, on
behalf of the City of Paris, the application for grant in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A.
3. That Karl Louis, Chief, Paris Police Department, be, and he is hereby, appointed
as Project Director and is hereby authorized and directed to execute and deliver, on behalf of the
City of Paris, all reports, communications, assurances, and documents necessary for the
completion of said project.
4. That W. E. Anderson, Director of Finance, be, and he is hereby, authorized and
directed to serve as the Financial Officer for said project and to receive and distribute funds for
the AS400 Computer, radar equipment, and overtime for the Police Department.
