1998-067-RES WHEREAS, COP DID HERETOFORE ON THE 12TH DAY OF DECEMBER 1997 RESOLUTION NO. 98-067 WHEREAS, the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 12th day of December, 1997, enter into an agreed order with the City of Reno enjoining the City of Paris from enforcing municipal ordinances or providing municipal services in Tracts 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 12 described in the annexation ordinance introduced to the City Council on November 6, 1997, in the event such ordinance was later adopted by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, said agreed order does not affect the remaining tracts described in said annexation ordinance, same being Tracts 1,2,3,4,6, 11, and 13; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 15th day of December, 1997, adopt Ordinance No. 97-059, same being the annexation ordinance introduced on November 6, 1997, which ordinance provided for the extension of certain boundary limits of the City of Paris and the annexation of 5,389.031 acres, more or less; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 13th day of April, 1998, in Ordinance No. 98-021, adopt an Official City Limit Map which included only those newly annexed areas which are undisputed; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed appropriate that a letter be submitted to the Texas Department of Transportation requesting that city limit signs be relocated in those undisputed newly annexed areas; and, WHEREAS, the form of the letter to the Texas Department of Transportation, attached hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the Mayor, Charles H. Neeley, should be authorized to execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, that the form of the letter to the Texas Department of Transportation requesting that city limit signs be relocated in the undisputed newly annexed areas, attached hereto as Exhibit A, be, and the same is hereby, approved; and, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Mayor, Charles H. Neeley, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the letter to the Texas Department of Transportation, under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto. Paris, TX 75460 RE: City Limit Signs Dear Mr. Daniels: I hereby request that the city limit signs for the City of Paris be relocated in accordance with the enclosed annexation ordinance on the following highways: 1. U.S. Highway 271 North 2. U.S. Highway 19/24 South 3. U.S. Highway 82 West 4. F.M. Highway 1510 West 5. U.S. Highway 271 Southwest As per your request, enclosed are the following: 1. Ordinance No. 97-059, passed and adopted on the 15th day of December, 1997, which authorized the annexation of approximately 5,389.031 acres; 2. Map showing the new city limit locations on the above-listed highways after the adoption of the enclosed Ordinance No. 97-059; 3. Resolution No. 98-067, passed and adopted on the 8th day of June, 1998, which authorized the execution of this letter. The Engineering Department of the City of Paris will place surveyor's stakes in the requested locations immediately prior to the installation of the relocated signs. As you are aware, certain areas described in the enclosed annexation ordinance are in dispute; therefore, we are not, at this time, requesting that signs in those areas be relocated or that any signs be changed to reflect a different population.
