Discussion of a Visitors Center Downtown The group discussed the visitors' center at length. The group was divided on the need for an additional center downtown. Some felt we really didn't need one at this time. Others felt it was much needed due to the Chamber being closed on weekends. Currently, the Plaza Art Gallery is Page 1 of2 r" serving as a secondary visitors' center on Saturdays. A mention of restrooms was also brought into the mix. Several community members and downtown property owners have voiced a need for public restrooms in the downtown area. Board members agreed we need to continue to explore this option through a needs assessment process. Fire Festival Main Street is interested in this possibility but can't take on another festival. The group recommended that we keep it in mind and know that it needs to be done prior to the 100 year anniversary. The right people have to be involved, the fire department, the historians, the city, the chamber, etc. Everyone agrees it is a great idea but a huge undertaking at the same time. Request for items for next agenda ~ Nomination of new committee chairs for the Main Street board. ~ Nomination of a board chairman. A motion to adjourn was made by Walt Brown and seconded by Lisa House. Meeting was adjourned at 4:20 p.m. Approved this 23rd day of August 2006. Zach Saffle, Chairman Signature Page 2 of2 ~-." I
