ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF
THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING
SECTION 5-2, RUNNING AT LARGE, OF SAID CODE; PROVIDING FOR
THE RESTRICTION OF DOGS WALKING ON DESIGNATED WALKING
TRACKS; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY; REPEALING ALL
ORDINANCES ORP ARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH;
MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE
SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That Section 5-2 ofthe Code of Ordinances ofthe City of Paris, Paris, Texas,
be, and the same is hereby, amended so that such shall read as follows:
"Sec. 5-2. Running at large or walking upon designated walking tracks
prohibited.
It shall be unlawful for any person owning or keeping any animal to suffer
or permit such animal to run at large upon the public streets, avenues, alleys,
parks or other public property of the City, or to suffer or permit any animal to run
at large or go upon any premises owned or in the possession of any other person
in the City. It shall also be unlawful for any person to walk, suffer, or permit any
dog to walk or to run, with or without a leash, rope, chain, tether, or harness,
upon any public walking trail or track or upon any public bicycle trail or track.
This prohibition includes the Trails DeParis, Dragon Park Walking Track, Oak
Park Walking Track, or any other public walking or bicycle trail or track in the
City of Paris,"
Section 2. Any person violating any of the provisions of this ordinance shall be guilty
of a Misdemeanor and, upon conviction, shall be fined in accordance with Section 1-6 of the
Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Texas, and each and every day's continuance of any
violation of the above-enumerated section shall constitute and be deemed a separate offense.
Section 3. All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby expressly
repealed.
Section 4. This ordinance shall become effective on November 1,2006.
