07-C Main Street Board Min 11-15-06 MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE MAIN STREET ADVISORY BOARD November 15, 2006 City Hall Council Chambers 107 East Kaufman Street 3:00 p.m. A meeting of the members of the Paris Main Street Advisory Board was held Wednesday, November 15,2006 at 3:15 p.m., at City Hall Council Chambers. Jennifer Long, Vice-Chairman, presided. PRESENT: Karol Lyn Moore Cindy Allcorn Matt Coyle ABSENT: Linda Knox Drew Crawford (Alt.) Lisa House Pike Burkhart Zach Saffle Casey Rose Walt Brown Other members present include Becky Semple, V &CC, Suzy Harper, Preserving Historic Properties and Barbara Wilson. August 23, 2006 minutes were reviewed by advisory board members and a motion was made by Matt Coyle to approve the minutes as prepared. Cindy Allcorn seconded and minutes were unanimously approved. September 5, 2006 minutes were reviewed by advisory board members and a motion was made by Cindy Allcorn to approve the minutes as prepared. Matt Coyle seconded and minutes were unanimously approved. Organization Committee Report - Pike Burkhart was absent from the meeting and asked Suzy Harper to provide his report to the advisory board. Suzy reported that Pike would like to continue cooperating with other organizations such as KPB, DTMA, V &CC, P AAA, etc. He is impressed with the cooperation he has witnesses for the 151 Annual Holiday in Paris event. Promotions Committee Report - Walt Brown was absent from the meeting. Jennifer Long presented the first rendition of the proposed Main Street logo for the advisory board to review and take action on. Members requested the following changes be made: spelling of the word Texas vs. Tex., change the "A Main Street City" font and font size, as well as perspective of "A Main Street City". Jennifer took note of proposed changes. Karol Lyn Moore made a motion to bring the logo back to the board at the December meeting with proposed changes for the board to re-evaluate. Cindy Allcorn seconded the motion. Board approved unanimously. Page 1 of2 Design Committee Report - Jennifer Long reported that wreaths (8) will be placed around the Culbertson Fountain for the holidays. Currently Main Street has 20 stock Christmas banners for the antique light poles, 12 additional banners will be ordered. Cedar trees will be placed on sidewalks downtown, John Adams will cut and deliver the trees to City Hall Annex. Beth Golden expressed gratitude to Garden Clubs who donated funds for decorations for Holiday in Paris. Candle lamps will be purchased and distributed to downtown merchants for upper story windows. Beth Golden and Becky Semple will purchase them and Matt Coyle will distribute them. Economic Restructuring Committee Report - Casey Rose was absent from the meeting, no report was given. Festival of Pumpkins Report - Beth Golden reported the festival was a success. Donations came in very well. Enough funds were raised between Sayonara Summer and the Festival of Pumpkins to fund the moonlighting in the trees surrounding the Culbertson Fountain. Beth Golden also reported that the festival would be on one day this year vs. two days as was in the past. Main Street advisory board members encouraged Main Street Coordinator to check with vendors prior to ensure they would still be interested in attending a one day event vs. a two day event. Main Street advisory board members also encouraged selling drinks along with food sales next year from the Main Street booth.
