Meeting Minutes
Thursday, October 19,2006
4 P.M.
A regular meeting of the members of the Paris Visitors and Convention
Council was held on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 4:00 P.M., in the
community room of the Chamber of Commerce, with Richard Manning,
Chairman, presiding.

Also present was Jamie Fussell with the Paris News, Juanita Miller with
Rallye de Paris, Pike Burkhart - Paris Gateways and Wayfinding Signs,
Beth Golden with Main Street, Brian Ausburn with the City of Paris.
Chairman Richard Manning called the meeting to order at 4:00 P.M.
The September, 2006 Financial report for the Visitors and Convention
Council and Love Civic Center was presented for approval. George
Kimbrough made a motion for approval, and Helen Short seconded the
motion. Financials were approved.
Minutes from the V & CC meeting on September 20,2006 were read and
approved by a motion from Tony Williams and seconded by Tim Masters.
Funding request for Rallye de Paris was reviewed, and Gail Dority made a
motion to grant the request for $1500.00 to be used for the Camp Maxey
Training Center road rental use fee. Helen Short seconded the motion.
Funding request for Rallye de Paris was approved.
Pike Burkhart made a presentation to the council for consideration on
maintaining the Gateway signs. The cost would be $1,000.00 per sign, and
there will be six signs covering the entrances to Paris. He asks that
$2,000.00 per year be budgeted for the maintenance of the signs every three
years totaling $6,0000.00.
Tim Masters made a motion to approve the proposal, and Gail Dority
seconded the motion, and the request was approved.
The 2007 Visitor Guide size was discussed, and Mindy Moree shared with
the group that Echo Printing would do an 8 1/2 by 11 book this year for the
same price as the version that has been done in the past.
Gail Dority stated that the motel owners preferred the smaller version for
several reasons, and there was much discussion on the layout of the guide.
At the end of the discussion, George Kimbrough made a motion to keep our
Visitor Guide as it currently is, and Mike Patterson seconded the motion.
Rodney Bass reported on highly circulated negative e-mails from the Paris
Chamber of Commerce, Jake Street. These e-mails should not be confused
with the Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, as we are not affiliated with
the Paris Chamber of Commerce in any way.
The meeting was adjourned by Chairman, Richard Manning.
