13-A US 271 South Widening MEMORANDUM DATE: Ernie Clark, Interim City Manager Shawn Napier, P.E. ~ Engineer / Director of Public Works February 6, 2007 TO: FROM: SUBJECT: U.S. 271 South Widening The Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT) has plans to widen U.S. 271 South, from Loop 286 through Pattonville to County Road (CR) 15400. A location map is included that shows the proposed construction area and the four typical sections. Also included is a detail of typical section one and two. Typical section one shows a five lane section and typical section two show a four lane divided section. The two sections will be transitioned just east of airport road (F.M. 1508). The scheduled letting date is May 2009. The first phase for TXDOT will be generating a working schematic (preliminary plan); they hope to have this accomplished by August 2007. The next step will be preparing a Right- of-Way (ROW) map; this will show all of the property owners and the amount of land that needs to be purchased to widen the roadway. The ROW map will take approximately six months to complete. The City of Paris will be responsible for 10% of the cost of purchasing new ROW. TXDOT will estimate the ROW cost and give us a rough estimate of how much money we will need to budget for this project. Given the current time line we would not need to budget the money until the 2007-2008 budget. Memo - TXDOT Hwy 271 South Widening 2-1-07 r" .
