Resolution Nominating a candidate for membership on the Board of Directors of
the Lamar County Appraisal District
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
LCAD has requested City Council to nominate an appointee to fill the unexpired
term of Mike Blackburn. The term will expire December 31,2007. The Board of
Directors for LCAD will consider nominations made by Lamar County, the City of
Paris and the School Districts.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
TEXAS, NOMINATING A CANDIDATE FOR MEMBERSHIP ON THE
BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE LAMAR COUNTY APPRAISAL
DISTRICT TO FILL AN UNEXPIRED TERM; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS
AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris has been asked to nominate a
candidate for membership on the Board of Directors of the Lamar County Appraisal District;
to fill a vacancy; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council is desirous of nominating
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That be, and he is hereby, nominated for consideration for
membership on the Board of Directors of the Lamar County Appraisal District.
Section 3. That the City Clerk, be, and she is hereby, directed to timely deliver a copy
of this Resolution to the Lamar County Appraisal District.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

The appraisal district will sorely miss the support and leadership of Mike Blackburn as a member of our
Board of Directors. Weare very grateful for his many years of service.
His death has left a vacancy on our Board of Directors. In accordance with Property Tax Code Section
6.03(1), each taxing entity may nominate by resolution adopted by its governing body a candidate to fill this
vacancy. The taxing unit must submit the name of its nominee to the chief appraiser within 45 days of the
date of this letter. The names of the nominees will then be presented to the current Board of Directors
within the following five days, and they shall elect by majority of its members one of the nominees to fill
the vacancy.
