1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Vice-
Chairman Paul Denney.
A. The following members were present:
Paul Denney, Vice-Chairman
Susan Scholz, Secretary
Sharon Nabors
Ann Rogers
Nancy Partridge
Pike Burkhart
Alternate: Brian Wear
The following members were absent:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Alternate: Vanessa Preston
B. Also present was Bethany Golden, Main Street Manger/Asst. Historic
Preservation Officer.
2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion was made by Susan
Scholz, seconded by Nancy Partridge, to approve minutes from March 26,
2007 and April 2, 2007. Motion carried 7-0.
3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness:
A. 606 Church Street - Becki Norment · Wants to tear down playhouse.
Motion was made to approve COA by Susan Scholz, seconded by
Sharon Nabors. Motion carried 7-0.
B. 801 Church Street. Karen Wilkerson · Motion made to recuse Pike
Burkhart by Susan Scholz, seconded by Nancy Partridge. Motion
carried 5-0. Ben Vaughn represented Karen Wilkerson and presented
application. Motion was made to approve the COA by Sharon Nabors,
seconded by Susan Scholz. Motion carried 5-0.

Motion was made to return Pike Burkhart to meeting by Susan Scholz,
seconded by Nancy Partridge. Motion carried 5-0.
C. 554 S. Main Street- Clifton Fendley- No representative present. Motion
made to table this item by Nancy Partridge, seconded by Sharon
Nabors. Motion carried 7-0.
D. 1009 ~ Kaufman-LamarCountyHistoricaISociety_Dr. Hayden stated
he wants to move the building from the old hospital grounds to the
Lamar County Historical Society. Motion was made to approve the COA
by Susan Scholz, seconded by Pike Burkhart. Motion carried 7-0.
4. Discussion of and possible action regarding the following structures
considered by code inspectors to be in violation of Article 11/ of Chapter 7 of
the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, entitled
IISubstandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures," to determine
whether such buildings or structures can be rehabilitated and designated on
the National Register of Historic Places, as a recorded Texas Historic
Landmark, or as historic property as designated by the City Council of the
City of Paris:
A. 401 3rd Street S.W.
B. 459-465 1st Street N.E.
Motion was made by Pike Burkhart, seconded by Susan Scholz to send 4A to
the Building and Standards Commission and hold 4B for further investigation.
Motion carried 6-0.
5. Consideration of and action on expressing support for the proposed takeover
of the Maxey House Museum by the Texas Historical Commission. Motion
made to table letter of support by Pike Burkhart, seconded by Susan Scholz.
Motion carried 7-0.
6. Receipt of report from the Historic Preservation Officer. No report.
7. Request items for future agendas. There were none.
8. Meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
