DESCRIPTION:
Update and explanation of the City's participation in CAPP (Cities Aggregation
Power Project).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
CAPP is a nonprofit political subdivision corporation dedicated to securing electric
power at the lowest rate for its members. The corporation has 96 members. Paris
has been a member since 2001 and is currently under contract through 2008. 2006
estimated savings for the City of Paris under this contract were $347,546 or
11.93% ($326,032 in 2005-16.31%) based on calculations by R. J. Covington
Consulting, LLC who is a consultant employed by CAPPo Savings in 2006 were
impacted by Hurricanes Dennis, Katrina, and Rita which altered normal energy
prices in 2006.
