RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
TEXAS, APPOINTING MEMBERS TO THE HISTORIC PRESERVATION
COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF PARIS, MAKING OTHER FINDINGS
AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the terms of office of Paul Denney (Architect), Ann R. Rogers (Member-At-
Large), Arvin W. Starrett (Historical Society), and Pike Burkhart (Main Street Board), as members
of the Historic Preservation Commission of the City of Paris, did expire on July 31, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, the term of office of Brian Wear, as an alternate member of the Historic
Preservation Commission of the City of Paris, did expire on July 31, 2007; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris does hereby recommend the (re )appointment of
[NAME(S)] [and the appointment of [NAME(S)]], as members, and the appointment of [NAME],
as an alternate member, for terms of two (2) years, beginning approximately August 1,2007, and
ending July 31, 2009];
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That [NAME(S)] be, and (he/she/they) (is/are) hereby, reappointed, and that
[NAME(S)] be, and (he/she/they) (is/are) hereby, appointed to serve as members of the Historic
Preservation Commission of the City of Paris for terms of two (2) years, beginning approximately
August 1, 2007, and ending July 31, 2009.
Section 3. That [NAME] be, and (he/she) is hereby, (re )appointed to serve as an alternate
member of the Historic Preservation Commission of the City of Paris for a term of two (2) years,
beginning approximately August 1,2007, and ending July 31, 2009.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION
Seven members consisting of an architect, a member of a local Historical Society, a
member of the Main Street Advisory Board; an owner of or resident or tenant in a
landmark property or property in a Historic District; and three at large members. Two
alternates. Two year staggered terms which expire on July 31. Appointed by City
Council; meets as needed but at least monthly.
Adopt rules and procedures; adopt identification criteria and rules for delineation of
historic district boundaries; conduct and administer historic resource surveys;
recommend designation of districts and landmarks; establish committees as needed;
produce and distribute minutes of meetings; develop public
outreach/education/awareness programs; approve/disapprove certificates of
appropriateness; provide design and other reasonable forms of advice to owners and
tenants of historic properties in the certificate of appropriateness review process;
recommend acquisition of endangered historic resources to the City Council; submit
an annual report to City Council; prepare and promote design guidelines for
landmarks/districts.

HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF PARIS
Five members who must be Citizens of Paris; who are not officers or employees of the
municipality; one member is required to be a tenant of public housing and serves for
only one term; four have two year staggered terms; appointed by certificate from the
Mayor; no resolution required.
Oversees the budget, maintenance, and policy of the Housing Authority which
consists of several apartment communities as well as duplexes and houses in the city
limits of Paris.
