Paris Visitors and Convention Council Minutes
June 25, 2007
Chairman Richard Manning called the meeting to order.
Cuests attending today's meeting was MailJ Street Director Beth Golden, and Jamie
Fussell with The Paris News.
Mindy Moree gave the Financial Report, and Bobby Walters made a motion to
approve the Financial Report as given, and Roy Gwinn seconded the motion.
Miody Moree presented the 2007~2008 budgets for The Visitors and Convention
Council and The Love Civic Center.

A separate line item was added in the V & CC budget to spend $40;000.00 on
installation, painting, and priming of the bridge on the grounds of the Love Civic
Center that will be used for the ASA Archery Events, and by residents and guests
enjoyin~ Trail de Paris all year lon~.

A motion was made by Mike Patterson to approve this additional expenditure, and
it was seconded by Bobby Walters.
The Paris Arts Alliance budget was increased by $5,000.00 bringing their annual
funding back up to $10,000.00 as in the past.
Also, there was funding of $15,000.00 to be used for marketing in increasing
Tourism in our area.
Bobby Walters made a motiOIJ that the Visitor and Convention Council 2007-2008
budget be approved, and Roy Gwinn seconded the motion.
Bobby Walters made a motion that the Love Civic Center budget be approved, and
Roy Gwinn made the second motion.
Minutes were presented from last Council meeting, and Derald Bulls made a motion
that they be approved as read; and Bobby Walters made tbe second.
Funding requests were made by the Lion's Club of $500.00 to help with expenses for
their annual meeting in Paris in April of 2008.
Funding request was made by Beth Golden -Main Street Director, for $2500.00 to
help with expenses for the annual "Festival of Pumpkins" in October of 2007
Funding request was made by Lisa Wright for the FLY-IN at Cox Field on
September, 15,2007 for $2500.00.
The motion was made by Bobby Walters to approve these three requests, and Mary
Lou Coe made the second motion.
Tbere was discussion On changing the Events Funding Criteria.
$l~OOO or below request will not go through Events FlJndin~ Application process.
The decision to do any changes to the existing Scoring Criteria was tabled for
discussion at our next meeting.
