1. The Historic Preservation Commission meeting was called to order by Susan
Scholz, as Acting Chairman.
A. The following members were present:
Susan Scholz, Secretary (Acting Chairman)
Sharron Nabors
Ann Rogers
Nancy Partridge
Brian Wear, Alternate
The following members were absent:
Arvin Starrett, Chairman
Paul Denney, Vice-Chairman
Pike Burkhart
Alternate: Vanessa Preston
B. Also present were Lisa A. Wright, Historic Preservation Officer.
2. Approval of minutes from previous meetings. Motion was made by Brian
Wear, seconded by Ann Rogers, to approve the minutes of the June 18, 2007,
June 25, 2007, July 2, 2007, and July 11, 2007 meetings.
3. Consideration of and action on the following Certificate of Appropriateness:
A. 1110 Church Street - Ben M. Vaughan, Agent for Owner - Mr Vaughan
stated that this is a continuation of a project already started. They will
remove the entire roof and replace with shake-look shingles. They
have not selected a color, but want something with a reddish, rusty
look to match original roof. Motion was made by Brian Wear, seconded
by Sharron Nabors, to approve the COA, Motion carried 5-0.
4. Discussion of and possible action regarding the following structures
considered by code inspectors to be in violation of Article 11/ of Chapter 7 of
the Code of Ordinances of the City of Paris, Paris, Texas, entitled
"Substandard and Dangerous Buildings and Structures," to determine
whether such buildings or structures can be rehabilitated and designated on
the National Register of Historic Places, as a recorded Texas Historic
Landmark, or as historic property as designated by the City Council of the
City of Paris:
A. 2722 Bonham Street
B. 3147 Bonham Street

F. 444 19th Street S.E.
Motion was made by Sharron Nabors, seconded by Ann Rogers, to send all
structures to the Building and Standards Commission for demolition since
they cannot be rehabilitated nor do they have significant historical value.
Motion carried 5-0.
5. Discussion on declaring the Pine Bluff Historic District. Motion was made by
Sharron Nabors, seconded by Brian Wear, to table this item. Motion carried
5-0.
6. Request items for future agendas. There were none.
7. Meeting adjourned at 12:10 p.m.
