Kent McIlyar, City Attorney CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS CITY COUNCIL AGENDA REQUEST MEETING DATE: I January 14, 2008 IZIAction 0 Discussion Dlnformation DRefer to: SUBMITTED BY: I Bethany Golden, Main Street Manager DESCRIPTION: We currently have an opening on the Main Street Advisory Board and would like to fill that position as soon as possible. Advisory Board members completed nomination forms prior to the November regular meeting and nominations (3) were discussed at the actual meeting held November 20th. After the meeting the nomination forms were collected by the Main Street Manager. Jean Maninger, Angela Thurman and Clifton Fendley (nominees) all expressed an interest in serving on the board however Clifton is the only nominee that lives within the city limits. I have spoken with Jean Maninger and Angela Thurman and both understand they can't actually hold Advisory Board positions due to living outside the city limits but both would like to serve on Main Street committees. BACKGROUND INFORMATION: In the past the Advisory Board has made recommendations to the Mayor for new board members. However, citizens have contacted the Mayor or council members directly with their interest in serving on the board. Both statements made, we strive to nominate individuals who want to serve on this board and have an interest in the growth and beautification of the downtown area.
