The City Council of the City of Paris met for a work session at 4:00 P. M. Thursday, February
14, 2008, at the City Council Chamber,107 E. Kaufinan, Paris, Texas.
Present: Mayor: Jesse James Freelen
Council Members: Will Biard; Don Wilson; and Bill Strathern,
Mayor Pro Tem
City Staf£ Kevin Carruth, City Manager; Kent McIlyar,
City Attorney; Janice Ellis, City Clerk; Gene
Anderson, Finance Director; Shawn Napier,
City Engineer; Priscilla McAnally, Library
Director; Anthony Bethel, Director of Lamar
County Health Department; and Doug Harris,
Interim Director of Utilities
Absent: Council Members: Stephen Brown; Kevin Gray; and Mary Ann
Fisher
l. Call meeting to order.
Mayor Freelen called the meeting to order at 4:05 p.m.
2. Pledge of Allegiance.
Council Member Biard led the pledge.
3. Presentation on Future Problem Solvers techniques and discussion of their application to the
Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee.
Instructor for Paris High School's Future Problem Solvers, Sandra Strom introduced
Rebekkah Cutrell, Ashita Ganguly, Samantha Maynard, Shelby Tucker and Thomas Price. Mrs.
Strom presented Council with hand-outs and reviewed the program's six step criteria for future
problem solving. The team gave a demonstration of how they work through and solve problems.
Mrs. Strom suggested Council get the community involved with the Lake Pat Mayse Study
Committee. She said education was important and suggested use of radio, television and the
newspaper through the education process.

4. Adjournment.
There being no further business, a Motion to adjourn was made by Council Member Wilson
and seconded by Council Member Strathern. Motion carried, 4 ayes - 0 nays. The meeting was
adjourned at 5:30 p.m.
