Proclamation
BACKGROUND:
The PJC men's basketball team continued its team and individual successes with a record
number of victories, Region XIV title, and an 8t" place finish in the NJCAA national
tournament, among others honors. This proclamation recognizes the team, players, and
staff for their success and roles as ambassadors for our community. Coach Ross Hodge will
attend the meeting to accept the proclamation.

Men's Basketball Program
The 2007-08 PJC Dragons men's basketball team celebrates its victory with its
fans following the Region XIV title game in March 2008. The Dragons went on to
place 8th nationally in the NJCAA Championship Tournament in Hutchinson,
Kan.
P7C Dragons Head Coach Ross Hodge led his team to a
Region XIV title in 2007-08 and an 8th place finish at the
N]CAA Men's Basketball National Championship Tournament
in Hutchinson, Kan.
The success of the Paris Junior College men's
basketball program continues: An NJCAA National
Championship in 2004-05; a conference title in
2005-06; another conference title in 2006-07; and a
Region XIV title and 8th place finish at the NJCAA
Men's Basketball National Championship
Tournament to wrap up the 2007-08 season.
Add to that a school record 30 victories for the
2007-08 season.
The Dragons, 30-7 for the season under Head Coach Ross Hodge, also
produced several players honored at the regional and national level.
Eric Tramiel of Shreveport, La., was named the Region XIV

Championship. (PDF / 2.3 MB) Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Tramiel also was named to the
All-Region First Team and as regular season Regional MVP. Two
Dragons -Raymond Sims of Philadelphia, Penn., and Ronnie Morgan
of Dallas, Texas -were named to the Region XIV All-Tournament
Women's Basketball Team.

PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, the 2007-08 Paris Junior College men's basketball team earned the National
Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIV title; and,
WHEREAS, the Dragons finished the NJCAA Men's Basketball National Championship
in 8`"place; and,
WHEREAS, the 2007-2008 season included a school record of 30 victories; and,
WbTEREAS, team memberEric Tramiel was awarded theRegion XIV Tournament's Most
Valuable Player, named to the All-Region First Team, awarded the regular season Regional Most
Valuable Player, selected for the NJCAA National Championship Tournament First Team, and
nominated to the 2008 NJCAA All-American Team; and,
WHEREAS, team membersRonnieMorgan and Raymond Sims were named to theRegion
XIV All Tournament Team; and,
WHEREAS, team members Marcus Carson and Charles Funches received Honorable
Mentions for the All-Region XIV Team; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Ross Hodge was named Coach of the Year for 2006-2007 and Region
XIV Coach of the Year for 2007-2008; and,
WHEREAS, the 2007-2008 season followed an NJCAA National Championship in 2004-
2005and conference titles in 2005-2006 and 2006-2007; and,
WHEREAS, the sportsmanship and continuing success of the PJC Dragons Basketball
program reflects well upon the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, Coach Hodge, players, and staff of the men's basketball team are good
ambassadors of our community,
NOW, THEREFORE, I, JESSE.JAMES FREELEN, Mayor of the City of Paris,
Texas, by virtue of the authority vested in me, and in honor of the Paris Junior College Dragons
men's basketball team, do hereby proclaim April 14, 2008, as
"PJC DRAGONS BASKETBALL DAY"
in the City of Paris, and encourage our citizens to join with me in honoring the 2007-08 Paris
Junior College men's basketball team and its Coach on this special occasion.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the City
of Paris to be axed this 14th day of April, 2008.
