RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Motion to decline Lamar County's nominee to the Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee, David
Nabors, and request Lamar County appoint a Commissioner or the County Judge.

BACKGROUND:
Council established an ex-officio position on the Lake Pat Mayse Study Committee for a
representative of Lamar County government. Commissioners Court appointed David
Nabors, a Paris citizen, on March 24, 2008. Since his wife, Sharon Nabors, was already
appointed to the committee as a representative of District 5, several Council Members have
expressed concern that having two people from the same household limits the diversity of
the Committee and gives the appearance of a conflict of interest.
