BACRGROUND:
This is the first step in applying for the 2009-2010 Texas Community Development
Block Grant Program. This program will possibly fund the replacement of sewer
infrastructure in the central portion of town (see attached map). A resolution will be
presented at the October 13 council meeting for authorization of the submittal of a grant
application. We will be applying for a$250,000 grant. The grant application deadline is
October 17t" and the awards will be made in May or June of 2009. The City will be
committing $50,000 as a contribution toward the construction of the sewer infrastructure.
If we are awarded the grant the project, we would most likely begin in the 2010-2011
budget year.

PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
CIT'Y OF PARIS
TEXAS COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM
City of Paris will hold a public hearing at 6:00 p.m. on September 29, 2008, at Paris City
Council Chamber located at 107 E. Kaufman St., in regard to the submission of an
application to the Office of Rural Community Affairs for a Texas Community
Development Block Grant Program (TxCDBG) grant. The purpose of this meeting is to
allow citizens an opportunity to discuss the citizen participation plan, the development of
local housing and community development needs, the amount of TxCDBG funding
available, all eligible TxCDBG activities, and the use of past TxCDBG funds. The City
encourages citizens to participate in the development of this TxCDBG application and to
make their views known at this public hearing. Citizens unable to attend this meeting
may submit their views and proposals to Kevin Carruth, City Manager, at City Hall.
Persons with disabilities that wish to attend this meeting should contact City Hall to
arrange for assistance. Individuals who require auxiliary aids or services for this meeting
should contact City Hall at least two days before the meeting so that appropriate
arrangements can be made.
