RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Report on the status of the demolition of the Casa Bonita Apartment Complex.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
Council objective; Nuisance abatement
BACKGROUND:
BID PACKET ONE: On July 14, 2008, the City Council awarded the bid to Cherry
Demolition in the amount of $70,275.00 to demolish four buildings in the Casa Bonita
complex. Demolition began on September 15 and was completed on all four buildings by
the 19th.
BID PACKET TWO: On September 8, 2008, the City Council awarded the bid to
Intercon Demolition in the amount of $475,232.00, which includes demolition of 18
buildings and the removal of numerous concrete building pads and asphalt parking lots.
In the event the owner fails to demolition four buildings on his adjacent property within
60 days, the City Council alternatively awarded the bid to remove those buildings and
accompanying concrete pads and asphalt parking lots in the amount of $82,964.00.
Contract documents have been forwarded to Intercon, and they will be given a notice to
proceed as soon as all required documents have been returned.
