RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Report on the status of the demolition of the Casa Bonita Apartment Complex.
POLICY ISSUE(S):
Council objective; Nuisance abatement
BACKGROUND:
On September 8, 2008, the City Council awarded the bid to Intercon Demolition in the amount of
$475,232.00, which includes demolition of 18 buildings and the removal of numerous concrete building
pads and asphalt parking lots. In the event the owner fails to demolition four buildings on his adjacent
property within 60 days of the award, the City Council alternatively awarded the bid to remove those
buildings and accompanying concrete pads and asphalt parking lots in the amount of $82,964.00.
Contract documents have been forwarded to Intercon, and they have advised that all insurance
paperwork and bonds will be returned to the City by October 24. They will be given a notice to proceed
as soon as all required documents have been returned, and they anticipate beginning demolition of the
structures by no later than mid-November. The buildings will be removed first, and the slabs and
parking lots will be removed last, likely at a different time.
