AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN
BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE
ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 14.563
ACRES, MORE OR LESS, AS REQUESTED BY PETITION OF THE
OWNERS THEREOF; GRANTING TO SAID TERRITORY AND TO ALL
FUTURE INHABIT ANTS OF SAID PROPERTY ALL OF THE RIGHTS AND
PRIVILEGES OF OTHER CITIZENS AND BINDING SAID FUTURE
INHABIT ANTS BY ALL OF THE ACTS AND ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF PARIS; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO
THE SUBJECT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a petition of annexation has been duly signed and acknowledged by each and
every person or corporation having an interest in the following described territory, to-wit:
Being all that certain tract ofland situated in the City of Paris, Lamar County,
Texas, a part of the Wesley Askins Survey, Abstract No.7, a part of the 100.0 acre
tract of land conveyed to D. Wayne Brown, et ai, by deed recorded in Volume 939,
Page 31, Lamar County Real Property Records, and a part of the 121.76 acre tract of
land conveyed D. Wayne Brown, el ai, by deed recorded in Volume 949, Page 296,
Lamar County Real Property Records, and being further described as follows:
BEGINNING at a point in the existing city limit line of the city of Paris as
described in Tract 5 of Ordinance No. 97-059, passed and adopted by the City
Council of the City of Paris on December 15, 1997, said point bemg a distance of 500
feet from the centerline of P.M. Highway 195 and being located in the northeast
boundary line ofthe North Hills Road, said road being a part of the 15.213 acre tract
of land described on the Final Plat of The Hills No.1, filed with the County Clerk of
Lamar County on January 18,2001;
THENCE southwesterly along the existing city limit line of the city of Paris
as described in said Ordinance No. 97-059 a distance of approximately 60 feet to a
point in the southwest boundary line of said North Hills Road;
THENCE North 320 47' 00" West to an iron pin set for comer, said point
being a distance of approximately 580.84 feet from the northwest line of P.M.
Highway 195;
THENCE South 51005' 37" West a distance of 828.56 feet to an iron pin
found for comer;
THENCE South 49010' 40" West a distance of 161.16 feet to an iron pin set
for comer;
THENCE North 560 53' 12" West a distance of 256.24 feet to an iron pin set
for comer;
THENCE North 17033' 30" East a distance of 241.89 feet to an iron pin set
for comer in a curve to the left having a radius of 384.25 feet;
THENCE southeasterly with a portion of said curve having a long chord
bearing South 720 32' East a distance of 2.36 feet, an arc distance of 2.36 feet to an
iron pin set for comer;
THENCE North 51005' 37" East a distance of 187.25 feet to an iron pin set
for comer;
THENCE North 560 48' 15" East a distance of 201.0 feet to an iron pin set for
corner;
THENCE North 51005' 37" East a distance of 516.09 feet to an iron pin set
for comer;
THENCE North 55043' 26" East a distance of 60.02 feet to an iron pin set for
comer;
THENCE North 580 32' 57" East a distance of 780.72 feet to an iron pin set
for comer in the east line of said 100 acre Brown tract and the west line of a tract
conveyed to J. H. Darnell by deed recorded in Volume 341, Page 273, Lamar County
Deed Records;
THENCE South 000 34' 23" East with said common line a distance of 411.82
feet to an iron pin found for comer;
THENCE South 580 32' 57" West a distance of 561.15 feet to an iron pin
found for comer;
THENCE South 320 47' 00" East along the northeast boundary line of said
North Hills Road to the place of beginning in the existing city limit line of the city
of Paris as described in said Ordinance No. 97-059, containing approximately 14.563
acres of land, more or less. Said tract described herein being known as The Hills No.
1 as shown on the Final Plat of said subdivision filed with the County Clerk of Lamar
County on January 18,2001; and,
WHEREAS, said tract of land is contiguous and adjacent to the current city limits ofthe city
of Paris, Texas, and is not more than one-half (1/2) mile in width; and,
WHEREAS, said petition fully conformed with the requirements of Section 6 of the Charter
of the City of Paris and Section 43.028 of the Local Government Code; and,
WHEREAS, said petition was presented to the City Council on the 12th day of February,
2001; and,
WHEREAS, after hearing such petition and the arguments for and against the same, the City
Council adopted Resolution No. 2001-008 granting such petition to annex said territory into the city
of Paris, Texas; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this ordinance are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the following described property, to-wit:
Being all that certain tract of land situated in the City of Paris, Lamar County,
Texas, a part of the Wesley Askins Survey, Abstract No.7, a part of the 100.0 acre
tract of land conveyed to D. Wayne Brown, et aI, by deed recorded in Volume 939,
Page 31, Lamar County Real Property Records, and a part of the 121.76 acre tract of
land conveyed D. Wayne Brown, et ai, by deed recorded in Volume 949, Page 296,
Lamar County Real Property Records, and being further described as follows:

THENCE South 320 47' 00" East along the northeast boundary line of said
North Hills Road to the place of beginning in the existing city limit line of the city
of Paris as described in said Ordinance No. 97-059, containing approximately 14.563
acres afland, more or less. Said tract described herein being known as The Hills No.
1 as shown on the Final Plat of said subdivision filed with the County Clerk of Lamar
County on January 18, 2001,
be, and the same is hereby, annexed to the city of Paris, Texas, and that boundary limits of the city
of Paris, Texas, be, and the same are hereby, extended to include the above-described territory, and
the same shall hereafter be included within the territorial limits ofthe city of Paris, and that said land
and the inhabitants thereof shall hereafter be entitled to all of the rights and privileges and subject
to all of the obligations and responsibilities of other citizens of the city of Paris, Texas, and shall be
bound by the acts and ordinances of the City of Paris.
Section 3. That the City Clerk be, and she is hereby, directed to file with the County Clerk
of Lamar County, Texas, a certified copy of this Ordinance accompanied by a copy of the Petition
for Annexation.
Section 4. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby
expressly repealed.
Section 5. That this ordinance shall become effective on March 12,2001.
