2001-074-RES ACCEPTING VIOLENT CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN UNIT GRANT NO WF-99-V30-13420-03 RESOLUTION NO. 2001-074 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE VIOLENT CRIMES AGAINST WOMEN UNIT GRANT NO. WF-99-V30-13420-03; AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF THE GRANTEE ACCEPTANCE NOTICE; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore, on the 11th day of December, 2000, in Resolution No. 2000-167, authorize an application to be rnade to the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, through the Ark-Tex Council of Governments for the Violence Against Women Act grant; and, WHEREAS, the Office of the Governor, Criminal Justice Division, has issued its Grant Award entitled "Violent Crimes Against Women Unit" Grant, No. WF-99-V30-13420-03, for the period beginning June 1,2001, and ending May 31,2002, in the total amount of $78,594.00, requiring a matching contribution of$26,986.00 in in-kind services; and, WHEREAS, acceptance of the same must occur within forty-five (45) days of the date of said award, which occurred on May 8, 2001; and, WHEREAS, it is deemed to be in the best interests of the citizens of Paris that the City of Paris accept said Grant Award and continue to improve the Violent Crimes Against Women Unit Project in the City of Paris; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the "Violent Crimes Against Women Unit" Grant, No. WF-99- V30-13420- 03, for the period beginning June 1, 2001, and ending May 31, 2002, in the total amount of $78,594.00, requiring a matching contribution of $26,986.00 in in-kind services, be, and the same is hereby, accepted, and the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby assure the Criminal Justice Division that, in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds, such funds will be returned to the Criminal Justice Division in full. Section 3. That the City Manager be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf of the City of Paris, the Grantee Acceptance Notice, under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A, attached hereto. Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage. PASSED AND APPROVED this 11th day of June, 2001. The grantee wiil not receive any grant funds until this notice is executed and returned to CJD. The authorized official, financial officer, and project director, referred to below as grantee officials, for this grant project must read the foil owing and indicate agreement by signing this Acceptance Notice below: . The authorized official for the grantee accepts the grant award. . The grantee officials agree to the terms of the grant, including the rules and documents adopted by reference in Title I, Part I, Chapter 3, Texas Administrative Code. . It is understood that a violation of any term of the grant may result in CJD placing a temporary hold on grant funds, permanently deobHgating ail or part of the grant funds, requiring reimbursement for funds already spent, or barring the organization from receiving future grants. .
