RESOLUTION NO. 2001-045
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING A DEED OF DONATION OF PROPERTY
FROM GLENN A. SMALLWOOD; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND
PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Paris is in receipt of an offer of donation of property from Glenn A.
Smallwood, being Lot 2, Block L of the East Park Addition to the City of Paris, located on the
southwest corner of 15th Street N.E. and Center Street; and,
WHEREAS, the aforesaid owner of this vacant lot states he is no longer able to care for this
property; and,
WHEREAS, in lieu of the City mowing and clearing said lot and placing a lien on the
property, thereafter to initiate collection proceedings on the property for the lien cost, the property
owner has offered to convey the aforesaid vacant lot to the City tax free, under a general warranty
deed, with the City to thereafter mow and clean the lot and utilize the property thereafter as the City
would deem appropriate; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is in receipt ofa deed of donation from
Glenn A. Smallwood as owner conveying Lot 2, Block L of the East Park Addition, located on the
southwest corner of 15th Street N.E. and Center Street, Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council finds and determines that it would be in the best interest of the
City of Paris to accept the offer of donation of the aforesaid property, to mow and clean the vacant
lot, and to thereafter utilize the aforesaid property as the City Council deems appropriate; NOW,
THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the donation of Glenn A. Smallwood of Lot 2, Block L of the East Park
Addition, located on the southwest corner of 15th Street N.E. and Center Street, Paris, Texas,
described in the deed attached hereto as Exhibit A, be, and the same is hereby, in all things accepted.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

That I, Glenn A. Smallwood, of the County of Lamar, State of Texas, for and in consideration
of the sum of TEN and NO/IOO DOLLARS ($10.00), and other valuable consideration to the
undersigned paid by the grantee herein named, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have
Granted, Sold, and Conveyed, and by these presents do Grant, Sell, and Convey unto the CITY OF
PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, of the County of Lamar, State of Texas, whose mailing address is P. o.
Box 9037, Paris, Texas 75461-9037, all that certain tract or parcel ofland situated in Lamar County,
Texas, and described as follows:
SITUATED within the corporate limits of the City of Paris, County of Lamar,
and State of Texas, a part of the Reddin Russell Survey, and being Lot 2, Block L of
the East Park Addition, described in deed from Lillian Johnson to Glenn A.
Smallwood, dated August II, 1978, and recorded in Volume 605, Page 146, Deed
Records, Lamar County, Texas, and also the same property described in deed from
N. S. Reeder and P. M. Margraves to Lillian Johnson dated December 20, 1945,
recorded in Vol. 296, page 117, Lamar County Deed Records.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the above described premises, together with all and singular,
the rights and appurtenances thereto in anywise belonging unto the said CITY OF PARIS, its
successors and assigns forever; and I do hereby bind myself, my heirs, executors, and administrators,
to Warrant and Forever Defend all and singular the said premises unto the said CITY OF PARIS, its
successors and assigns, against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming, or to claim the same or
any part thereof
