A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS,
PARIS, TEXAS, APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING AN
INTERGOVERNMENT AL AGREEMENT FOR CONSULTING SERVICES
WITH PARIS INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT FOR THE
PRESENTATION OF THE DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION
(D.A.R.E.) PROGRAM FOR ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-EIGHT (178) DAYS
THROUGHOUT THE 2004-2005 SCHOOL YEAR FOR STUDENTS IN PRE-
KINDERGARTEN THROUGH GRADE 5 AT THE GIVENS, JUSTISS, AND
AIKIN CAMPUSES; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS
RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris is aware of a need for drug resistance
training for minors who reside within the corporate limits of the City of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, the Paris Independent School District has requested a presentation ofthe Drug
Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program for one hundred seventy-eight (178) days
throughout the 2004-2005 school year for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 5 at the Givens,
Justiss, and Aikin campuses, and the City Council is agreeable to providing such service; and,
WHEREAS, the form ofthe Intergovernmental Agreement for Consulting Services, attached
hereto as Exhibit A, should, in all things, be approved, and the Mayor should be authorized to
execute the same; NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,
TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things
approved.
Section 2. That the form ofthe Intergovernmental Agreement for Consulting Services with
the Paris Independent School District, attached hereto as Exhibit A, for a presentation ofthe Drug
Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Program for one hundred seventy-eight (178) days
throughout the 2004-2005 school year for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 5 at the Givens,
Justiss, and Aikin campuses, be, and the same is hereby, approved.
Section 3. That the Mayor be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to execute, on behalf
of the City of Paris, the Intergovernmental Agreement for Consulting Services with the Paris
Independent School District, under the terms and conditions and in the form shown in Exhibit A,
attached hereto.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.

KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
COUNTY OF LAMAR
THAT, the CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, a municipal corporation, acting by and
through its Mayor, Curtis Fendley, duly authorized, hereinafter called CITY, and the PARIS
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, acting by and through its Director of Compensatory
Education, Marilyn Nolan, duly authorized, hereinafter called PISD, do hereby contract and agree
as follows:
I. CITY agrees to provide the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A .R.E.) Program
for students in pre-kindergarten through grade 5 on the Givens, Justiss, and Aikin
campuses.
2. Such program will be presented for one hundred seventy-eight (178) days
throughout the 2004-2005 school year, such days to be mutually agreed upon by
CITY and PISD.
3. For and in consideration of the services described above, PISD agrees to pay to
CITY the sum of Twenty-five Thousand Six Hundred Twenty-five and no/lOO
Dollars ($25,625.00). Such sum shall be paid out monthly during the months of
September 2004 through May 2005.
4. The term of this agreement shall be for the 2004-2005 school year.
