PoLicY IssuE(s): Zoning BACKGROUND: Xuan Thu Thi Pham has requested that the zoning on the property located at 221 8th Street N.E. be changed to Commercial (C) for the purpose of operating a spa and nail salon. She stated at the Planning and Zoning Cominission hearing that she will be using only a 20' x 20' room in her home to operate the business; therefore, because Commercial zoning allows for a larger variety of uses, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended that the property be rezoned to Neighborhood Service (NS) instead and the City Council, at its January 12, 2009, meeting, followed that recommendation. BOARD/CAMMISSION RECOMMENDATION: The Commission recommended that this property be rezoned to Neighborhood Service (NS) by a vote of 4-0.
