City Engineer Council Date: Parks & Recreation /Director of Public Works 3-23-2009 20 RECOMMENDED MOTION: Move to proceed with a 1,540-foot eastern extension of the Trail de Paris from its current east end to the Reno City limits, and authorizing the City Manager to negotiate and execute all necessary documents. POLICY ISSUE(S): Project Approval BACKGROUND: The City of Paris and City of Reno would like to extend the Trail de Paris from its current east end to Airport Road. The Reno City Council approved the Reno portion of the project March 15 with strong support. The original project estimate was approximately $500,000, but after cash and in-kind donations the current estimate is $111,348. The following foundations have donated money for the project; Legacy Foundation $50,000, Lennox Foundation $30,000, First Federal Foundation $25,000, Ash Grove Foundation and Greater Paris Development Foundation $4,000. The total money raised to date is $114,000, which is more than the current project estimate. R.K. Hall Construction has agreed to pave the trail at cost and many other companies have agreed to do work for free or at cost.
