2009-033-RES-Expansion of Highway 69RESOLUTION NO. 2009-033 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, DECLARING SUPPORT FOR THE SULPHUR RIVER REGIOIVAL MOBILITY AUTHORITY AND THEIR EFFORTS TO FUND STATE HIGHWAY 24 WEST IN DELTA COUNTY AND THE EXPANSION OF US HIGHWAY 69 IN HUNT COUNTY THROUGH THE PASS-THROUGH FINANCING PROGRAM; DETERMINING THAT THE MEETING AT WHICH THIS RESOLUTION WAS PASSED COMPLIED WITH THE TEXAS OPEN MEETINGS ACT; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of Paris recognizes the importance of regional partnerships to meet common transportation goals; and, WHEREAS, on November 12, 2007 the City Council of the City of Paris by Resolution No. 2007-137 declared support for the establishment of the Sulphur River Regional Mobility Authority to advance important transportation projects within the SRRMA area; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris would now like to express its continued support for the efforts of the Sulphur River Regional Mobility Authority (SURRMA) to fund expansion of State Highway 24 West in Delta County and the expansion of US Highway 69 in Hunt County, both through the Pass-Through Financing Program; and, WHEREAS, the City of Paris deems it appropriate to accept the SURRMA pass-through application for approval. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS: Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in all things approved. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Paris supports the efforts of the Sulphur River Regional Mobility Authority (SURRMA) to fund expansion of State Highway 24 West in Delta County and the expansion of US Highway 69 in Hunt County through the Pass-Through Financing Program. Section 3. That the City of Paris does respectfully request the Texas Transportation Commission to accept and carefully consider the SURRMA pass-through application for approval. Section 4. That the meeting at which this resolution was approved was conducted in strict compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act. Texas Government Code Chapter 551 Section 6.
