A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
APPOINTING STEVE BROWN AS A MEMBER OF THE VISITORS AND
COIVVENTION COUNCIL OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OF LAMAR
COUNTY; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE
SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on March 12, 1990 the City Council of the City of Paris by Resolution No.
90-026, authorize the execution of a contract with the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar
County, Inc. providing for the use of hotel occupancy tax funds to promote and advertise
the Ciry of Paris; and,
WHEREAS, the Chamber of Commerce created the Visitors and Convention Council
to carry out its contractual obligations to administer the use of said hotel occupancy tax
funds; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor, the one Council Member herein appointed, and the City
Manager are full, voting members of the Visitors and Convention Council; and,
WHEREAS, the term of office of Council Member Mary Ann Fisher, as a member of
the Visitors and Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar County,
expired on May 31, 2008; and,
WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris has appointed Steve Brown for a term of
one (1) year, beginning June 1, 2009, and ending May 31, 2010, and has submitted the
name of such person to the City Council for confirmation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby
in all things approved.
Section 2. That the appointment of Steve Brown, as a member of the Visitors and
Convention Council of the Chamber of Commerce of Lamar County, for a term of one (1)
year, beginning June 1, 2009, and ending May 31, 2010, be, and the same is hereby,
confirmed.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
