BACKGROUND:
Our two Code Officers have an outstanding list of over 100 properties for high grass and weeds. The
abatement crew is down to only one person (from two) since our temp person left a few weeks ago.
This does not cut our time in half but almost cuts it down to 1/4 since now one person has to supervise
community service workers and has to move all the equipment and cannot mow the other properties.
Staff is, however, in the process of doing mass abatements in NE Paris and then will be moving to NW
Paris to do the same. Mass abatements include mowing vacant lots of entire street sections, regardless
of whether we have a complaint or sent a notice or not (our mowing guy mowed approximately 1001ots
in one week in NE Paris). Also, as noted in the code report at the last meeting, the work crew also
assisted Parks and R.O.W. with fallen trees during May's storms.
