RECOMMENDED MOTION:
Move to approve a resolution calling for a proposal to place a vote on the 2009 tax rate on a future City
Council Agenda as an action item and setting the time and place for public hearings on the proposed tax
rate as 5:30 P.M. on August 24th and 31St in the Council Chambers.

BACKGROUND:
Pursuant to Section 26.05(b) of the Properry Tax Code of the State of Texas, the City shall schedule a
two public hearing on the proposed tax rate. Staff recommends holding the public hearings on August 24
and August 31.

A RESOLUTIOIV OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
CALLING FOR A PROPOSAL TO PLACE A VOTE ON THE 2009 TAX RATE ON A
FUTURE CITY COUNCIL AGENDA AS AN ACTION ITEM; SETTING TIME AND
PLACE FOR PUBLIC HEARINGS ON THE PROPOSED TAX RATE; MAKING
OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE SUBJECT; AND
PROVIDIIVG AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 26.05(d) of the Property Tax Code of the
State of Texas, the City will hold two public hearings on the proposed tax rate, the first
public hearing to be held at 5:30 p.m. on August 24, 2009 and the second at 5:30 p.m. on
August 31, 2009 in the City Council Chamber,107 E. Kaufman Street, Paris, Texas; and,
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 26.06(b) of the Tax Code, the governing body
of the taxing unit shall announce at the public hearings the date, time, and place for the
meeting at which they will vote on the tax rate for 2009.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section i. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby in
all things approved.
Section 2. Public hearings on the proposed tax rate are hereby called for at 5:30
p.m. on August 24, 2009 and at 5:30 p.m. on August 31, 2009 in the City Council Chamber,
107 E. Kaufman Street, Paris, Texas.
Section 3. That a proposal to adopt a tax rate for 2009 shall be placed as an action
item on a future City Council agenda prior to September 30, 2009.
Section 4. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
