A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS; IN
SUPPORT OF THE APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION, FOR AN ENHANCEMEIVT PROGRAM GRANT, BY THE
COUNTY OF LAMAR, TEXAS, FOR FUNDS TO EXTEND THE EXISTING
TRAIL DE PARIS A DISTANCE OF APPROXIMATELY 4.7 MILES FROM THE
EAST CITY LIMITS OF RENO THROUGH BLOSSOM TO BOIS D' ARC
STREET; MAKING OTHER FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE
SUBJECT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Paris operates and maintains the Trail de Paris, a paved hike
& bike trail that goes from 12ih Street SE to Old Clarksville Road with extensions planned
going west to 8th Street SE and to the east to the ciry limit line of the Ciry of Paris, Texas;
and,
WHEREAS, Trail de Paris has been a very successful endeavor thanks to the hard
work and generous donations from various groups and grant funds made available for this
project; and,
WHEREAS, funds have been made available for trails projects by the Texas
Department of Transportation Enhancement Program, and the City of Paris is very much in
support of the County of Lamar applying for such grant funds in order to extend the
existing Trail de Paris a distance of approximately 4.7 miles from the east city limits of
Reno through Blossom to Bois d'Arc Street.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby
in all things approved.
Section Z. That we strongly support Lamar County applying for the Texas
Department of Transportation Enhancement Program grant funds in order to extend the
Trail de Paris an additional approximately 4.7 miles from the east city limits of Reno
through Blossom to Bois d'Arc Street.
Section 3. That we strongly recommend funding for this project through the
Texas Department of Transportation Enhancement Program.
Section 5. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage.
