POLICY ISSUE(S):
Board Appointment
BACKGROUND:
The Airport Advisory Board has been one member short since the resignation of Pete Kampfer, whose
term expires in 2011. Two applications have been submitted for consideration. Although the board
appointment process has not recognized board recommendations since 2008, the Airport Advisory
Board has recommended that Dr. Fred Williams be appointed to fill the board vacancy. The other
applicant is Steve Gilbert, the new Paris Economic Development Corporation Executive Directar.

2. can represent the interests of industry (one of the primary business users of the facilities); and
3. is the Executive Director of a potential funding source for airport projects.
In addition, it is critical in reaching improved decisions, educating the public, and building support for
airport within the community for there to be some diversity in the board membership. Currently the Bc
only has one non-pilot, one city resident, and no representation by industry. Mr. Gilbert will bi
additional perspectives to board deliberations.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS,
APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE AIRPORT ADVISORY BOARD TO SERVE
THE UNEXPIRED TERM OF PETE KAMPFER, WHICH EXPIRES APRIL 30,
2011; MAKING OTHER FINDIIVGS AND PROVISIONS RELATED TO THE
SUBJECT; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, there exists a vacancy on the membership of the Airport Advisory Board
of the City of Paris due to the resignation of Pete Kampfer, and it is necessary to appoint his
successor; and,
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris does hereby recommend the
appointment of to serve the unexpired term of Pete Kampfer,
which ends Apri130, 2011;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PARIS, TEXAS:
Section 1. That the findings set out in the preamble to this resolution are hereby
in all things approved.
Section 2. That be, and he is hereby, appointed to serve the
unexpired term of Pete Kampfer, which ends April 30, 2011, as a member of the Airport
Advisory Board of the City of Paris.
Section 3. That this resolution shall be effective from and after its date of passage.
